Area Activity Guide: Rochester Real Beer Expo

June 2017

Rochester Real Beer Week 2017

Rochester Real Beer Week is about to take over tap lines all over town. Just about every pub and watering hole in every neighborhood will be offering craft-centric tap takeovers, food pairings, activities, art, and entertainment. It’s sure to be weird and wonderful. But only one neighborhood can claim the crowning event of Rochester Real Beer Week, and that distinction falls to the South Wedge, host of the one and only Rochester Real Beer Expo.

Only in the Wedge

Whether you’ve managed to score a ticket or not, you likely know that the Real Beer Expo is one of the most delicious and highly anticipated events of the summer. But did you know that it’s also the annual fundraiser for BASWA, the Business Association of the South Wedge Area? This amazing group is the reason our neighborhood has new streetlights, flowers, planters, bike racks, benches, public art, a great website, and the South Wedge Quarterly. And coming soon: a bike share! All thanks in large part to the Beer Expo!

What’s a real beer expo?

Rochester has an amazing craft beer scene because Rochesterians love real beer. It’s beer brewed with love, vision, patience, and purpose. The Rochester Real Beer Expo is a celebration of our region’s thriving beer culture, a curated collection of more than 100 of the most exciting craft beers currently available. Your ticket gets you dozens of tastings of brews selected to delight your taste buds and open your eyes to new possibilities. And since beer is best paired with sustenance, vendors will be serving up locally made cheeses, Cajun BBQ, pizza, poutine, German & Italian sausage, wraps, and sandwiches. Expect anything but the usual offerings on what’s sure to be a beautiful June day in the South Wedge.
