South Wedge Farmers Market

June 2017

Connect with your Local Farmers

In Rochester’s South Wedge, we’re kind of spoiled when it comes to food sources. South Avenue is now home to an expanded Abundance Food Co-Op, we’ve got McCann’s Local Meats, and Hart’s Local Grocers is a hop, skip, and a jump away. All of these amazing purveyors, however, are a step removed from the people who actually grow the food. While it may only supplement your usual shopping, the South Wedge Farmers Market presents an ongoing opportunity to preserve your connection with local farmers. When you’re feeling far away from the source of your sustenance, just spend a Thursday evening at Genesee Gateway Park talking to the people devoted to providing fresh, locally grown food.

More than a Market

The South Wedge Planning Committee has now been bringing locally grown and fresh food to the community by way of the SWFM for 10 years! ln addition to offering an array of locally grown goodness, the market is a lively gathering place where neighbors can meet and mingle, complete with live music, activities for the kids, and cooking demonstrations by local chefs. Everyone should feel welcome. EBT customers can participate in a bonus program which allows customers who purchase $10 in EBT tokens to receive a $5 bonus to use at the market.

SWFM is located at Genesee Gateway Park (at Mount Hope and Alexander) in Rochester’s South Wedge neighborhood. It takes place every Thursday evening, June through October, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
