Area Activity Guide: Wedge Waddle 2017

October 2017

Win Thanksgiving with a Waddle!

Thanksgiving morning isn’t known for its fabulous festivities. It’s a time for either intense prep cheffing or recuperating from the biggest going-out-in-your-hometown night of the year. In Rochester’s South Wedge, though, there’s a tradition to be thankful for, and they call it the Wedge Waddle. It’s an opportunity to get together with neighbors, get outside, and get moving. No matter what you’ll be doing the rest of the day, waddling around the Wedge is the perfect pregame. It doesn’t even interfere with football, which doesn’t start until 12:30.

What Happens at a Waddle

Come rain, shine, snow, or sleet, residents of the South Wedge will be gathering at 10 am on November 23rd at Abundance Co-Op. Day-of registration opens at 9:30 am, but it’s better to register now, since the first 250 people to sign up will get a free t-shirt. Everyone will take off at their own walking or running pace along a 3-mile course through the Wedge. At booths along the way, waddlers can pick up coffee, fruit, beer samples, cider, and donut holes (while supplies last). The final destination is The Historic German House, where participants will enjoy FREE hot cider, homemade donuts, and a cash bar. Participation is totally free, but you’ll be extra amazing if you bring a new pair of socks or two to donate to St. Joseph’s House of Hospitality. The weather might be chilly, but the cider and friendly folks will warm you right up!
