Area Activity Guide: Burger Week!

July 2019

Get ready to grill!

National Burger Month might be long gone, but July is National Grilling Month. During the fourth week of this month, burger lovers will have a lot to sink their teeth into thanks to the second annual Rochester Burger Week, presented by City Newspaper. The event gives big love to burgers from all over the region, from the Finger Lakes to Brockport. This year’s week-long celebration will offer locals and visitors a chance to try some of the best burgers around while also contributing to a great cause.

Give to a good cause.

A portion of the proceeds from each burger sold during Burger Week will be donated to Foodlink, a non-profit working to end food insecurity for local families. The organization’s mission is to “leverage the power of food to end hunger and build healthier communities.” Foodlink fights hunger through food bank contributions, a Backpack program for children who need nutritious food over the weekends, and a mobile pantry.

Get it right.

Organizers for Rochester Burger week have outlined Five Burger Commandments for ultimate enjoyment. Here’s the sum-up.

  • Arrive early if you want to make sure your special burger is available.
  • If you encounter a waiting list, be patient, have a drink, and post a picture with the #ROCBURGERWEEK for a chance to win prizes.
  • Tip your hard-working servers!
  • Don’t forget to add fries and a burger-friendly beverage!
  • Keep up with @rocburgerweek on social media. There are prizes!

Essential Details

Rochester Burger Week will be held Friday, July 19th through Friday the 26th and includes not only beef but bison, black bean, and everything in between. In Fairport, head on over to McArdle’s Restaurant. Honeoye Falls Distillery is also participating, as are three different restaurants on South Avenue in Rochester (i.e., The Old Stone Tavern, Toasted Bear Tavern, and Harry G’s). A map of all 20 participating restaurants is available online.
