If you’ve been left out of the loop, you should know that Wicked isn’t just an alternative adaptation of The Wizard of Oz. It’s an entirely fresh retelling of the relationships that created the circumstances into which Dorothy found herself swept away. This story takes the focus off of the wizard and puts it squarely on the witches — where fans would argue is exactly where it belongs. The combination of amazing storytelling and a truly uplifting score has made Wicked “the defining musical of the decade.”
