July 2015

OK, we’ve got something really cool for you this week, and we bet it’s like nothing you’ve ever been to before. This weekend (July 17th and 18th), a very unique type of festival is coming to Rochester – A Street Light Festival. No, that doesn’t mean you’ll be celebrating the tall lamps that light our roads. Rather, this will be a celebration of the International Year of Light, and wait until you see what they have planned.

The two-night festival will be held at Village Gate (not even 2 miles from South and Hickory Place!), and will run from 10PM to 1AM. Why so late? Because it’ll need to be dark to truly appreciate the many pieces of interactive light art that comprises the bulk of the event. The artists are local and it’s truly a community festival, and should not be missed. We urge you to head to the festival’s website and check out the pictures of some of the installations. They’re impressive and powerful. So wait until dark this weekend and go see light like you’ve never seen it before!
