Area Activity Guide: Free Movie Nights!
July 2015
Who doesn’t like movies? And who doesn’t like being outside on beautiful summer nights? The problem is finding a way to combine the two, since usually you have to sit inside to watch a movie. But Rochester has a solution for this conundrum! We’re excited to let you know about Monroe County’s program that will be showing movies outside this summer!
Tomorrow night (July 14th), Movies in the Parks kicks off with a very special showing of Jaws. What makes it so special? You’ll be watching Jaws for its 40th anniversary…at Ontario Beach Park! We dare you to go back the next day to swim. The rest of the Movies in the Park presentations will be held at the Highland Park Bowl (not even a mile from South and Hickory Place!) on Thursdays and will be Madagascar (7/16), Pee Wee’s Great Adventure (7/23…30th anniversary!), and The Sound of Music (7/30, for it’s 50th anniversary). Each movie is free and begins at 7PM with concerts. You can see full information for it at the Movies in the Parks webpage. So, find your way to Highland Park, bring a lawnchair or two, some popcorn, and enjoy great movies in a beautiful outdoor setting – the best of both worlds!
