A Different View of Downtown

If you’ve attended Rochester Venture Adventure, you know how inspiring it can be to spend time downtown during a special event. When people come together to celebrate, it’s a unique opportunity to spend some time outside, taking in the sights and sounds, rather than just driving through or rushing to an appointment. The Liberty Pole lighting gives residents and visitors a chance to take in the city after dark while kicking off the holiday season.

A Rochester Holiday Tradition

The 2016 Lighting of the Liberty Pole will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, around 5 pm. We recommend getting there at about 4:30 for some live musical performances and to make sure you catch Mayor Lovely A. Warren switching on the lights of the Liberty Pole just outside the Sibley Building. Once everything is aglow, Mayor Warren, special guests, and everyone else gathered will process parade-style to the Ice Rink at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park. The outdoor skating season kicks off with free skating starting at 5:30, but be sure to bring your own skates, as $3 rentals run out quickly.
