Area Activity Guide: Mini Maker Faire
November 2016
Imagination in Action
If you’ve never been to a Maker Faire, you’ve probably never seen anything like it. We’re lucky to have our own version of this family-friendly event in Rochester, but even after you’ve attended, it can be hard to describe.
Let’s stick with the official description from Maker Faire’s creators:
“Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.”
See the Impossible
Basically, Rochester’s Mini Maker Faire is a showcase of what’s possible. Creators and inventors of all ages come together to share how they’ve brought their dreams to life. Visitors can expect to see all sorts of things they’ve never seen before. It’s an opportunity for the public to play with ideas, discover new pursuits, and super-charge their creativity.
Experience the Wonder
The third annual Rochester Mini Maker Faire will be a day full of learning, sharing, and doing. Bring the whole family to explore everything from robots and 3D printers to local food and music. If you want a more immersive experience, get in on the action with opportunities to Volunteer, join in as a Maker, or become a Sponsor!
