Area Activity Guide: Red Wings Opening Day 2016
March 2016
Upstate New York Baseball
For a small city, Rochester New York has a pretty vibrant sports scene. Locals can get the authentic take-me-out-to-the-ballgame experience without paying crazy prices or sitting in crazy traffic. The Rochester Red Wings, a Minnesota Twins affiliate, are coming off a unique three-peat, having achieved a 77-67 record for three consecutive years. The team announced this year’s roster (on Periscope of all places), and there appears to be plenty of potential to improve upon those numbers this season. If you’ve got little ones, you can pack all sorts of fun into this early-spring Saturday by visiting Superheroes Weekend at the Strong Museum, which opens at 10 am.
Opening-Day Action
The Wings’ 20th season at Frontier Field gets underway Saturday, April 9 with a matinee against the Scranton/WB RailRiders. Fans might have to brave chilly temps, but that could turn out to be a good thing. A 50-Degree Guarantee issued for the game ensures that, if the mercury doesn’t pass 50, ticket-holders will be able to trade their opening-day tickets for free seats at an April or May home game.
With ticket prices ranging from $8 to $12, you can’t lose! Get yours now.
