Area Activity Guide: Small Business Saturday
November 2016
Shop Small in the South Wedge on November 26
Surely you’ve noticed the blue “Shop Small” door mats and stickers adorning small businesses around Rochester. But have you integrated Small Business Saturday into your holiday shopping plans? Since 2010, thanks to American Express, there’s been a shopping holiday between Black Friday and Cyber Monday that’s not all about huge companies giving huge discounts that create huge crowds. Small Business Saturday draws attention to our local communities and the artisans and entrepreneurs that keep them humming all year long.
Keeping it Local
Saturday, November 26, 2016, is Small Business Saturday, a day set aside to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for our communities. It’s important to mention that, in the South Wedge, local business owners are lucky to also have the support of BASWA, the Business Association of the South Wedge Area. Residents should keep an eye out for events sponsored by this high-impact neighborhood organization. When each of us makes a conscious effort to include local vendors in our shopping, and stays aware of the efforts of local organizations, we strengthen our neighborhood and help it flourish.
Remember Local VIP Vendors
BASWA’s website is a great place to find out about what’s happening in the South Wedge and who’s behind it. Residents of South and Hickory Place have another way to find local businesses and save at the same time! Just keep in mind the Rochester companies that participate in our Resident VIP Program! When you use your key tag, it’s a win-win.
