Area Activity Guide:Rochester Real Beer Week
June 2015
Oh boy. If you’re a craft beer enthusiast, you should be chomping at the bit in anticipation of the next couple of weeks. It’s almost time for Rochester Real Beer Week 2015! Starting on June 12th, area pubs, bars, restaurants, and all kinds of establishments will be celebrating all that is craft beers and ales. There will be tastings, beer and food pairings, socials, special brew launches, and live music. These festivities will run through June 21st.
One of the best parts of the Rochester Real Beer Week is how South-Wedge-oriented it is. For example, local pub extraordinare The Tap and Mallet really spearheads this event each year, along with the Business Association of the South Wedge Area. That means the Wedge gets a lot of great beer-related events happening in it. And that means it’s a great thing you live in South and Hickory Place! You can head over to the Rochester Real Beer Week website to get a full listing of all the events and participating merchants (from all over the city!), but we’ll highlight the lunch and concluding events here. On June 12th, Lovin’ Cup will host the Homegrown Showdown with many different restaurants and breweries and live music. The Rochester Real Beer Expo will take place on Saturday, June 13th from 6PM to 10PM right around the corner on Gregory Street, which will be closed to traffic and filled to the brim with craft brews to sample and discuss. Then, to close out the Real Beer Week, The Old Toad will host their Cask Ale Festival, while Lovin’ Cup once again has a bunch of music and brews as well as a 5K! And those are just the tips of the iceberg. It’s a week of joyous celebration of the art of craft brewing – we’ll toast to that!
