South Wedge Farmers Market
June 2016
So Many Options!
The Rochester Public Market has an unbelievable amount to offer, but sometimes you just feel like staying close to home. In a neighborhood like the bustling South Wedge, that makes total sense. Thanks to the South Wedge Planning Committee (SWPC), the Wedge has its very own farmers market — so every Thursday, you can pick up local produce just a few blocks from home.
Right Around the Corner
The smaller, less-crowded South Wedge Farmers Market is open Thursday nights from 4pm to 7pm, June through October, at Genesee Gateway Park at Mount Hope and Alexander. Now in its 10th year, this neighborhood market brings together local farmers, vendors, and chefs to provide fresh, healthy food and support the well-being of local families.
More than Fresh Veggies
In addition to fresh, locally grown food, the market features free live music from local bands, chef-led cooking demonstrations, and (new this year) a free beginner yoga lesson each week. Next time you plan your grocery shopping, support local food systems by choosing the food less traveled!
