South Wedge Farmers Market 2018

May 2018

Summer Thursdays from 4 to 7

Thursday, June 7th marks the start of the 12th season for the South Wedge Farmers Market, so bring the whole family, your neighbors, friends, and co-workers down to the market and join in the celebration! Every Thursday evening through October 4th, Genesee Gateway Park will be bustling with activity at our neighborhood’s very own growing farmers market. Many of our longtime vendors have signed up for another engagement, and the market is full of new features that will make market day a not-to-be-missed weekly event. With last year’s Mt. Hope renovation projects complete, you can expect the market to be more accessible and enjoyable than ever.

Opening Day Festivities

On Thursday, June 7th, come down to the park for your first peek at this year’s market, as well as an array of special opening day activities. Several community groups will be there to share resources and information.  If you’ve got little ones, they’ll be delighted to connect with members of the Rochester Fire Department and the RPD Mounted Patrol. You can also expect to see artists from 540 West Main and Studio RAD showcasing their work. The whole family can limber up with TRU Yoga’s free yoga session at 5:45. With all that’s going on, you might need a reminder to visit our farmers and complete your shopping for the week!

Beyond Opening Day

The market opens at Genesee Gateway Park, 151 Mt. Hope Ave., at 4 pm on June 7th and will continue to offer great local fruit, veggies, bread, beer, wine, and more every Thursday from 4 to 7 pm all summer long. Always evolving, the market increasingly serves as a gathering place for the Rochester community. Added features are making our South Wedge market a microcosm of the larger Rochester Public Market. Each week, there will be a Mini-Flea where neighborhood residents can access free space to sell their excess belongings. A new Riverside Arts and Crafts section will provide an outlet for local artisans and crafters to showcase their work. A variety of buskers will pepper the entertainment schedule, TRU Yoga will continue hosting free yoga sessions, and Wedge Talks will highlight the valuable services offered by local community groups. And don’t miss the Food Cart Round-Up with hot-dog, popcorn, jerk chicken — as well as vegetarian and vegan selections.
