VIP Program Spotlight: Habitat ReStore

Furniture section of the Habitat ReStore

September 2020

If you’re redecorating your apartment and want to donate some of your old furniture or find “new-to-you” furniture and accessories, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a special place you should know about. The ReStore sells and accepts donations of furniture, home accessories, and building materials. By donating or purchasing these items, you help keep quality, usable home improvement items out of landfills and fund the activities of Habitat for Humanity.

Shopping at the ReStore is always an adventure. With new donations coming in daily, there’s a constantly changing inventory of items. If you’re creative and crafty, the upcycling possibilities are endless. If you’d like to donate items to the ReStore, you can arrange for them to be picked up at no cost, or you can drop them off at one of their two locations (755 Culver Road and 2199 East Henrietta Road). And if you’re feeling inspired by Habitat’s mission and looking for volunteer opportunities, the ReStore is always looking for help.

As an organization, Habitat for Humanity believes that everyone deserves a decent place to live, so they partner with volunteers to build and improve homes for those who couldn’t otherwise afford to. Since it began in 1984, Flower City Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated 240 homes. The ReStore has helped support that effort by generating over $750,000 in funding.
